The Final Frontier
Humanity
Awed by the beauty of the planet I orbit, I am fearful of my landing. The relationship it reflects, that is.
You never truly know what your partner-to-be is thinking. Mine, in particular, keeps her thoughts very close to the vest.
It rattles me because I see little outward indication of her desire to be by my side. Yet she tells me she loves me deeply.
The unknown tends to do that, fabricate fear, and help us doubt ourselves.
We are both trying to clean up our backyard as we discuss and plan moving in together.
Our relationship is exciting and petrifying as my orbit nears her glowing planet.
What must I do for her to welcome me into her soul? Her hesitancy frightens me.
Do I plan for landing, or head for distant stars? I no longer know the answer.
The vacuum of space holds me captive.
I pray she will call me home soon.
While I still have breath.
